How do I change my language?

At Babbel, you can customise both the display language and the learning language.

The display language is the language used throughout the Babbel interface, usually your native language, while the learning language is the language you want to learn.

Changing your learning language

Website

  1. Go to babbel.com
  2. Click on the circular flag in the upper right-hand corner
  3. Select the language you want to learn from the dropdown

App

  1. Open the Babbel app
  2. Tap on Profile profile.jpeg, then the Settings wheel
  3. Tap on My languages
  4. Select the language you want to learn

If you have a single language subscription, you can change the language, but you will have limited access. If you want to learn more languages, choose a subscription with access to all languages. Here you can learn how to upgrade your subscription.

Different language versions

When using Babbel, it's important to consistently use the same version of a language, such as American or British English and Mexican or European Spanish, across all your devices.

Babbel treats these as different languages and tracks your progress for each one separately. Switching between language versions on different devices can result in problems with syncing your vocabulary and progress. To avoid these issues, choose one version and stick with it throughout your learning.
