Babbel is designed to be flexible, so you can learn on your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop - whenever and wherever it suits you.
On your computer
You don't need to download any special software to use Babbel on your laptop or desktop. As long as you have a computer with up-to-date browser, you can access everything directly through babbel.com. Simply visit the website and you're ready to start learning.
If you’re using an older computer, check to see if you meet these requirements:
- Browser: a recent version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge (required)
- Operating system: an up-to-date version of Windows or macOS (recommended)
For the best experience - especially if you want to use speech recognition - we recommend using Chrome. On Edge, Firefox, or Safari, speech recognition is only available for German, Italian, Spanish, and French.
On your mobile device
To learn with Babbel on the go, simply download the Babbel app to your mobile device and make sure your device meets these system requirements:
- Apple: your device should have iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 or above
- Android: your device should have Android 9.0 or above
The Babbel app is not supported on beta versions of iOS or Android, rooted devices or on those with a custom ROM.
