Babbel Speak is an AI-powered feature designed to help you start speaking a new language with confidence. Using natural language processing, it acts as a virtual conversation partner, guiding you through realistic scenarios from your first words to confident interactions.
With Babbel Speak you can practice speaking at your own pace in a comfortable, judgment-free environment where making mistakes is part of the learning process. The AI provides helpful hints and support throughout your conversations, making it easier to start speaking without feeling overwhelmed.
This feature transforms speaking practice from something intimidating into an enjoyable part of your learning journey, helping you build the conversational fluency needed to connect with others and achieve your language goals step by step.
How to use Babbel Speak?
You'll find Babbel Speak in its own dedicated tab at the bottom of your screen. Here's how it works:
- Choose a scenario: Pick a dialogue based on your interests from a selection of everyday scenarios.
- See what’s ahead: Get acquainted with the tasks you should complete during the conversation
- Start speaking: Engage in the dialogue by taking turns with your AI partner
- Feedback: After each conversation, you will receive feedback on the completed tasks and your vocabulary.
During the conversation, you can repeat or slow down responses, access translations or get a hint on how to take the conversation further.
While practising your skills, you'll have the freedom to speak naturally without interruption – we won't stop or correct you midway through your responses but the AI will always guide you back to the scenario or ask for clarification if needed.
The goal is to practise being understood without worrying about perfect grammar or vocabulary.
Availability of Babbel Speak
If you are using British English as your display language, you can use Babbel Speak to practice Spanish.
If you are using American English, you can use Babbel Speak to practice French, German, Italian and Mexican Spanish.
