How do I change my language?

At Babbel, there are actually two different languages that we talk about: the display language and the learning language. The display language is the language of your Babbel interface, and the language that you’re learning from. (In most cases, this will be your native language.) For English, we offer both American English and British English as display languages.

The learning language is the language that you came to Babbel to learn. For example, if you’re learning Spanish with Babbel, then Spanish would be your learning language.

Here’s how to change each type of language:

Important!

If you’re an English speaker, it’s important that you stick to only one form of English on Babbel if you’re learning on more than one device. Your progress is linked to a specific language combination, and American English and British English are treated as two different languages. That means that if you have different languages on different devices, your stored vocabulary won't synchronize.
