How can I customise my review options?

While we believe in the power of Review, sometimes you need a little more control over your studying. That’s why we have a few features on Babbel’s desktop version that allow you to customise your review sessions.

Note: These features are only available on desktop, not in the mobile app.

Filter by course or level

If you want to review what you’ve learned in a specific course, that's easy. The same can be said about words or phrases at a certain Knowledge Level (meaning how well Review thinks you know it).

Here’s how to review words from a specific course:

  1. Go to your Babbel dashboard
  2. Click Review in the top navigation bar
  3. Under My vocab, hover over the dropdown to filter
  4. Hover over either Knowledge Level or Theme (theme lets you filter by course)
  5. Click on one of the filters to the right that you’d like to see
  6. Click on Review these items to begin your review session

Manage review frequency

If you’re taking a class alongside Babbel or use other methods to supplement your learning, you might want to change the frequency that you see certain words in Review. The principle of Review is that it has six Knowledge Levels, with 1 being for words you’ve just learned and 6 for words you’ve fully mastered. If you’ve learned a word outside of Babbel and want to review it less frequently, then you should move it up a Knowledge Level or two. Here’s how:

  1. Go to your Babbel dashboard
  2. Click Review in the top navigation bar
  3. Scroll down to My vocab
  4. Find the relevant words or phrases you want to change (the search bar makes this easy)
  5. Find the column Knowledge Level on the right-hand side of the page
  6. Select a circle corresponding a higher Knowledge Level
