Introducing Toucan!
This article refers to the Toucan browser extension that has been acquired by Babbel and will be integrated into the Babbel ecosystem as a free product. Toucan helps language learners to build and retain new vocabulary while browsing the web. Read more here.
How do I access Toucan settings?
After installation of the Toucan extension, you can access the settings as follows;
Chrome, Edge, Firefox: Click the jigsaw icon to the top right, beside the address bar. Then click the Toucan icon.
Safari: Click the Toucan icon to the left of the address bar.
How do I pause Toucan?
Easy! When hovering over a word, you can tap on the pause button to stop translations on that particular site.
If you tap the gear icon, Toucan’s settings panel should pop up for you. From there, you can use the global on/off toggle at the top of the panel to turn Toucan off, and back on again. You can also choose to block or allow Toucan on specific sites using the “See blocked sites” link.
How do I change my language?
Hover over any translation and click on the icon to open Toucan’s settings panel. From there, click “Change” next to your selected language, and then choose which language you'd like to learn next!
How do I change my display alphabet?
Hover over any translation and click on the icon to open up Toucan’s settings panel. From there you can select your display alphabet for Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Hebrew, Korean and Japanese.
How do I save words?
You can easily save words using our Saved Words feature. From the hover state, click the save icon at the top. You can then access and review these words by clicking on the book icon, or “Saved” in your settings panel.
